HydroblastingHydroblasting involves the application of high-pressure streams of water and, if required, abrasives and solvents to clean the interior and exterior surfaces of process equipment, storage tanks or other facilities and to unplug clogged tubes or lines. Hydroblasting services are typically utilized by refining, fossil fuel, chemical, utility, gas processing, steel, food, pulp and paper industries.
Bioblast
Bioblast is Merrick’s proprietary industrial cleaning method that adds soft, very fine abrasive particles to the discharge of waterjet systems. Without using hazardous chemicals or solvents, Bioblast removes oils, tar resins, lime, carbonblack, rust and similar “impossible-to-remove” substances from a variety of industrial surfaces.
Non-toxic Bioblast particles can remove the toughest substances without damaging sensitive, machined surfaces, such as bearing and shafts.
Specific applications include:
- Surface preparation prior to painting
- Surface cleaning prior to inspection
- Cleaning of product and oil from pump pads, compressor decks and quench oil systems
- Cleaning of piping, tanks, various structures and concrete floors.
Ultra High-Pressure (UHP) Cleaning and Cutting
Cleaning
Merrick’s Ultra High-Pressure systems operate at up to 35,000 psi and provide superior cleaning abilities while using much less water than conventional hydroblasting.
Typical cleaning applications include:
- Floor and wall surfaces
- Tube and shell sides of heat exchangers
- Trayed towers
- A broad array of tanks and vessels
- Manufacturing capital equipment and more.
Materials removed by UHP cleaning include:
- Polymer residue
- Hardened scales
- Crude oil residues and byproducts
- A vast array of industrial coating and build-ups.
Cutting
The ability to cut single element or composite materials with a minimum kerf and no material deformation from heat has facilitated industry acceptance of UHP abrasive cutting.
Merrick’s UHP cutting applications include such materials as:
- Metal and concrete
- Building walls and floors
- Process and pressure vessels
- Petroleum storage tanks
- Process piping and other industry related equipment.
